I published a book!

I’ve wanted to tell you all about an exciting development for a long time, but just haven’t had the brain power or time to sit down and do it.

Late last year (Oct 2021), I released a journal on Amazon.

My Daily Record: Personal Accountability for Kids. $7.99 USD

I had been using a similar version of this daily check in for myself for almost a year when one of my children followed in my footsteps down the spiral of anxiety. Using this is a great help in setting me up for the day and reviewing the progress I made. Often at the end of a day of scrambling and too much to do, I felt like I had spun my wheels and done nothing at all. It gets so hard to look back over the past day when so many things to be done loom in the future.

So I created a version for my daughter and started helping her to use it. Like me, she found using the journal a very grounding exercise.

There is no magic fix for anxiety, but staying rooted in the present is a big help, and the book I created has been a help to her and other children in starting and ending their days in a healthier way.

I am sharing the specific details of the book with you, knowing that some may just copy down the questions, but hoping you will honor my work and purchase a copy for your child. For those who want the book in digital form, I plan to release a PDF on my Etsy shop soon. I am also working on a version for older kids and an adult version. Please subscribe to my blog for updates on when that is released.

My Daily Record includes enough undated pages for six months of daily use. The book begins with a short opening interview (not shown) to make it easier to assess progress over time.

There are six monthly calendars with room to designate a focus to work on for the month. Each day has a rating on it which can be used for whatever you or your child want or need to keep track of, whether it is physical energy, behavior, mood, or something else.

A simple page for every day follows with room for gratitude, basic self care, and places to note what the child has done well and what they wish they had done better framed in constructive language.

The journal ends with a closing interview (not shown) and a certificate.
